The Landlord and Tenant Board (LTB) continues to put users first as we evolve and expand our digital services to improve access to justice.
We are pleased to announce that the Ministry of the Attorney General’s Justice Accelerated Strategy has enabled the launch of Navigate Tribunals Ontario at the LTB.
This online tool will empower users with information about their rights and responsibilities and the rules and processes at the LTB, and its launch is part of the government’s ongoing efforts to speed up access to justice and move more services online.
These are some of the features we are excited about:
-
- A series of questions and answers guides users along pathways tailored to their situation
- Info-sheets and summary reports can be printed, emailed or downloaded
- A unique access code gives users the option to exit the navigation and come back later to pick up where they left off
- No requirement to log in or provide personal details
Together with our website and call centre, Navigate Tribunals Ontario is another way that the LTB is providing the public with simple, accurate, and plain language information.
We are excited to offer this new tool and ask that you help us spread the word by linking to Navigate Tribunals Ontario from your organization’s webpage and by sharing the link through your networks. The URL is www.navigatetribunalsontario.ca.
Many of you attended a demo of Navigate Tribunals Ontario earlier this month and shared your feedback with us. As you begin to use the site, you may have more suggestions. We’ll be back in touch in a couple of weeks, once you have had a chance to explore it more. We also invite you to use the “Tell us what’s missing” link that appears on the bottom of each page on the pathway. Your feedback and comments are important to us.
We already have some enhancements to Navigate Tribunals Ontario planned for later this summer – we’ll be launching new pathways with information about co-operative housing evictions, care home and mobile home tenancies. At the same time, we will be updating content in the tool to reflect amendments to the Residential Tenancies Act, 2006 which take effect on September 1, 2021 as a result of the Protecting Tenants and Strengthening Community Housing Act, 2020 (Bill 184).
We are also taking this opportunity to remind you that the LTB will soon be launching a new case management system, the “Tribunals Ontario Portal”. LTB parties will be able to use the Tribunals Ontario Portal to file applications and upload documents. They will also be able to log in to view their case file information or work with parties to resolve their dispute, either on their own or with the help of a mediator. We will be reaching out again soon with an opportunity to attend a demo of the Tribunals Ontario Portal before it launches.
As always, if you have any questions, please contact us at LTB@ontario.ca.
Sincerely,
Karen Restoule Lynn Dicaire
Associate Chair Registrar
