Are you allowing your money to work for you?

It has become clear how the banks operate, and we all know that they are making much more money on YOUR investment than you are.In order to realize your goals and dreams, it is time to take action with good investment products that’ll allow your money to work for you!

One option for investing is what’s called a Segregated Fund.Seg funds have several benefits that many other investment products don’t have, which include;

  1. MATURITY AND DEATH BENEFIT GUARANTEES
  • Get most or all of your original investment back in the event of a premature death or market volatility.
  1. RESETS TO “LOCK IN” YOUR GAINS
  • When your principal investment grows, you could lock it in at the new total.
  1. ESTATE PLANNING
  • Unlike savings accounts and GIC’s, these investments bypass the probate process and allow your beneficiary to receive your money without having those funds taxed.
  1. CREDITOR AND LIABILITY PROTECTION
  • Protection from creditors, potential lawsuits and bankruptcy. Especially beneficial for business owners.
  1. ACCESS TO 10% OF YOUR FUNDS EVERY YEAR
  • Unlike other investments, you will have access to 10% of your principal investment every year with no fees or penalties.

We all know that saving and investing are important habits to acheive financial security.  However, where and how you save and invest, is even more important.  Putting money into an investment that isn’t yielding a good return is not going to benefit you or your pocket.

To demonstrate, assume that in the chart below, the savings will remain invested for 10 years.  Let’s say you’re averaging between 2%-4%, which is generally what the banks average long term.  As you can see, there is quite a substantial difference in the interest earned between the 2% and the 12%.  This, of course, does not even take inflation (the hidden tax) into account which is currently 4.4% in Canada.  In actuality, if you’re earning a 4% return on your investment, your actual return is -0.4% (Rate of Return – Inflation Rate = Actual Return).

The rate of returns you can expect with seg funds, historically shown, are 8% and above.

I have taken the liberty of attaching a few of my clients’ most recent statements to demonstrate the rates they have been receiving.
