Evicted in Ontario May 2024 and in Alberta July 2024. Where are they now?

Erin Ifill and Skye Douglas were formally evicted in Ontario by the Sheriff on May 27, 2024. Not only were they not residing in the unit when the Sheriff arrived, they’d rented the unit to international students who thought they had a safe place to call home.  In order to assist the distraught students, the evicting landlord provided them with emergency housing contact numbers. The landlord needed to gain possession of their home which had rental arrears exceeding $12,000. York Region Police are knowledgeable of the circumstances regarding the International Students and hopefully charges will be laid.

But they fled to Alberta and did it again.

Unfortunately for them, things aren’t the same in Alberta. Their tenancy laws do not permit non-paying tenants to live in a rental property for an extended period. Their system is far more efficient.  The Orders are also issued on the same day a judgment is made and posted digitally within 24 hours. This time only one name is on the Order meaning only one name was on the lease. This is a Canada-wide problem.

Take a look at the order below:
